Welcome to St. Kevin's Parish, Eastwood

As Catholics, we can be proud of our long history in the Eastwood district. We have worshipped in the area for more than a century. Initially, we travelled to Parramatta, Baulkham Hills or Pennant Hills for Mass and at times even celebrated Mass in our homes. After struggling through the Great War we laid the foundation stone for the first church in 1918. The building of the school commenced in 1925 and in 1929 we were established as a parish in our own right. Over the years, we have developed the school, built a convent for the Mercy Sisters, assisted the Marist Brothers with the boys college and established a presbytery. And we have not only concentrated on our physical assets, but we have built a community based on our Faith, which brings the sacraments to many, promotes the pastoral welfare of our families, educates our children, cares for the aged and sick and assists the poor and other marginalised people.

Our present pastor, Mnsgr John Lyne, joined us on the first day of January, 1990 and together with a dedicated band of parishioners set about building our new church, the Haseler Centre and the priests' house. The church was blessed and opened by Bishop David Cremin in 1994 and we can be proud to have a magnificent holy space allowing us to worship God and celebrate the sacraments in a fitting manner.

To those who have gone before, we say 'Thank you' for giving us such a magnificent start. We acknowledge the debt we owe and we understand that we must pick up where our forbears left off, continue to care for the present and provide for the next generation.

The theme of our renewal program is 'Thanksgiving' and what could be more appropriate? We have a great deal for which to be thankful, both in our personal lives and as a community.
